Uruapan, Michoacán.
The Maque Incrustado, an ancestral technique originating from the Purépecha region in Uruapan, Michoacán, comes to life in collaboration with Ensamble Artesano with Taller Saint Phalle and its Designers. This ancient technique involves the application of a paint made of earth and natural pigments on wooden objects or gourds. With roots dating back to pre-Hispanic times, the maque process includes the use of specific materials and is divided into three main stages: anchoring, drawing, cutting and inlaying. The indigo gourd, the result of this tradition, fuses ancestral technique with contemporary graphics, standing out for its characteristic color. Additionally, these pieces are environmentally safe and do not contain heavy metals or toxic substances.

Craft technique: Lacquers.
Measurements: 20 cm long x 8 cm high.
Materials: Guaje, wood, earth, oil and pigment.
