"Wool rug dyed with walnut leaf and woven by hand on a pedal loom. The size of this rug requires great precision from the weaver as well as neatness in the dyeing so that the color is even and not stained. It is made with a wooden or metal machine to make a fabric. It is called "pedal" or colonial because it has threads placed on the base
(warp) that must go through frames loaded with smooth or wires with holes where each of those threads will pass and with a pedal mechanism, they are stepped on to lift certain frames. Now with the frames up, a cross is made with
the threads and weft threads are allowed to pass with which the fabric is created. The weft must be struck with the comb so that the thread goes down and the fabric is closed. This tool was introduced to Mexico with the arrival of the Spanish, which is why it also bears the name of colonial loom."
