Boy's squares rug C
This rug is made by Artesanías del Valle in the Zapotec community of Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca.
The wool of this rug is chosen from the best of their livestock, prepared by hand and dyed with walnut leaves. Once combed and prepared, it is placed on the pedal loom or colonial loom. At the base, wool threads are placed that pass through frames loaded with smooth or wires with holes, and with a pedal mechanism that is stepped on to lift certain frames. With the frames above, a cross is made and weft threads are allowed to pass through to create the fabric. The weft must be hit with the comb so that the thread lowers and the fabric closes.
The warping and weaving of this rug must be carried out by expert artisans due to the precision needed to be able to weave a rug with these dimensions. With a beige color and brown checks, they form a harmonious and elegant piece that stands out anywhere in the home, in boutiques, hotels and offices.
