Tlapehuala, Guerrero
Craft technique: Natural fibers
Measurements: 20 cm x 25 cm x 5 cm
Material: Natural palm
The braiding technique in Guerrero has a tradition of more than 30 years, and Tlapehuala is no exception. The making of this fine braid is done using spirals with pieces on the machine, which makes this fabric the thinnest and most moldable in the area. Its most representative piece is the Calentano hat.
In the design process led by the Zaavia Allied Organization and the Designer Paloma Romero
, a resignification of the hat applied to different pieces and products is carried out. In this case, oval tablecloths measuring 30 cm high x 20 cm wide have been created, cut to provide greater practicality to the final object. The piece is complemented by a bellows and adjustable cowhide handle, with leather and cotton gabardine interiors. The materials that make up the final piece are joined by leather workers from CDMX. The piece presents differentiated characteristics in color and measurements for the limited edition of Ensamble Artesano. Care : Clean with a damp cloth, avoid getting wet and store in dry, cool places. In the design process led by the Zaavia Allied Organization and the Designer Paloma Romero
