Chicapa de Castro and Álvaro Obregón, Oaxaca
Huipil made and hand-embroidered by artisans from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the state of Oaxaca. The embroidery technique is chain and the name of the huipil is in Zapotec: Belegui, which means star. This piece made of huipil is of great value due to the artisanal and collaborative work between two communities, where the artisans used white satin fabric as a base to make the chain embroidery for later making. This huipil full of tradition can be the perfect piece to give as a gift or wear with pride.
Dry cleaning or hand carving with the piece inside out is suggested.
