Embroidery

About the material

The embroidery technique can be done by hand or machine. While in hand embroidery there are different techniques such as the chain, pepenado, basting stitch, the ribbon, the cross stitch and xmanikbeen – which is done on unraveling and in Mayan alludes to the everlasting flower that means perpetuity–. It was around the time of the Industrial Revolution when in Mexico the embroidery technique began to be worked with the first analogous machines, to incorporate symbolic designs from different regions of the country.
