pottery and ceramics

About the material

This craft technique has its roots in the pre-Columbian period with the first civilizations and cultures of the world. The technique brings together the four elements: fire, earth, water, and air. And it is related to the discovery of fire, which revolutionized human activities.
Currently, the people who work with the technique begin with the collection of the raw material in natural mud banks, like the mountains where the communities live, to then sift it before moistening and kneading it. The difference between pottery or ceramics depends on the temperature, the type of modeling, drying, and the finishes that can be burnished, smoothed, polychromed, glazed, among others.
