About the material
The embroidery technique can be done by hand or machine. While in hand embroidery there are different techniques such as the chain, pepenado, basting stitch, the ribbon, the cross stitch and xmanikbeen – which is done on unraveling and in Mayan alludes to the everlasting flower that means perpetuity–. It was around the time of the Industrial Revolution when in Mexico the embroidery technique began to be worked with the first analogous machines, to incorporate symbolic designs from different regions of the country.
In the collection you will find pieces made in the states of Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatán, Campeche, Jalisco, the State of Mexico and Hidalgo. The artisan groups of these regions dedicate their talents to the preservation of the technique.
