The San Martín basket is a tribute to the volcano of the same name, located in the south of Veracruz, it brings together traditional “junco” basketry techniques, known by artisans; material endemic to the regional jungles and used by the inhabitants of this area for its hardness and resistance to humidity since for generations it has been used to create baskets for collecting and storing seeds. For its elaboration, Fortuna and Pablo together with their daughters María and Gabriela, Nahua natives of the community of Encino Amarillo municipality of Mecayapan, Veracruz, are the ones who walk kilometers to cut and clean the fiber that they later prepare and weave to give life to this utilitarian piece; The expert wood carving collective Agua y Monte, originally from the municipality of Pajapan, Veracruz, participates collaboratively, making the handles in cocuite wood and polished with beeswax in an artisanal way.

Zerete

Zerete is a project that seeks to directly promote basketry and craft production in southern Veracruz, through the creation of traditional and modern ornamental items of the highest quality; made from natural fibers, using ancestral, traditional techniques of this region of Veracruz.

We were born with the firm purpose of rescuing and promoting artisanal production in rural communities in the south of the state, generating a network of jobs and economic incentives for artisans in this area, in addition to form a platform for the dissemination and promotion of the cultural and craft heritage of southern Veracruz.
